It’s once again Make and Acquaintance Monday!  Today I’ll be spending a nice, jovial evening playing board games with some friends.  I will be meeting one or two new people, but more importantly, some of my friends will be meeting some other friends for the first time.  It’s really great to be able to bring groups of people together and it never fails to surprise me how many people actually really like board games!

It’s interesting how, when we let down our guard, we often find that other people like the same corny things as we do!  One of my sort of bad traits is that I tend to downplay things.  For instance, whenever I introduce the concept of getting together over board games, I always talk about it in a silly way, such as “Oh yeah, we’re a bunch of dorks – we’re getting together to play some cheesy board games.”  Then, without fail, the person (or persons) I am talking to gets a gleam in their eye, smiles, and says “no way! I love boardgames! I would love to play!” There is definitely still a little kid inside all of us.  Your mission today, should you choose to accept it, is to get a group together (even if it’s just you and one other person) to play games or plan a game night for later this week!  You’ll be surprised how many people will enjoy that idea. :)  Feel free to borrow my silly icebreaker from above. :)
