Wellness Wednesday

Sometimes it is just so difficult to feel connected - to the world around you – to other people – to your inner self! Half the reason this site exists is to help you (and in the process, ourselves) bridge that gap of isolation. In order to aid in that struggle, we have developed different theme days for the week. Why? Because as human beings it is just more fun and makes sense to identify and correlate things – and if they are things in which you know other people are simultaneously participating – all the better (and, duh, the point!) And if something is fun – then we should definitely give it a shot, right? Therefore, I am exuberant to introduce Wellness Wednesday!

The idea of ‘wellness’ is a broad one – and one explored on the internet through a similarly broad range of websites, from health-conscious, positively-motivating ones like are RealAge.com (I get their email tips of the week!) to ones focused on directing you through life’s most difficult journeys, such as healthyplace.com. With that in mind, Wellness Wednesday won’t focus on one specific thing – but does invite you to do at least one ‘healthy’ thing for yourself on this wonderful half-way point in the week.

Some suggestions? Eat berries with breakfast! Blueberries - the superfood! (Ok, it’s a little late for breakfast – how about dessert?) Not only are they sweet, fun, and yummy – they are also good for you! Many are chocked full of antioxidants, Vitamin-C, are known to fight cancer and other diseases, and can slow aging! I myself had some blueberries and strawberries with breakfast (It never hurts to give yourself props!)

Take a walk! Even a thirty minute walk helps in calming your often calamitous mind, and your body will certainly thank you. Speaking of relaxation, attempting some yoga poses can be enjoyable (stretching is always a feel-good sort of thing) and for a calming evening of self-connectivity, why not light a candle, maybe paint your toenails, or do a little journaling to get all that tension out? Whatever works for you – whatever pro-healthy thing you can think of, just give it a shot on this Wellness Wednesday :) Hey, it definitely doesn’t hurt!

And yes, you caught me! I did say we had theme days of the week – meaning all week!! So, without further adieu (though hopefully soon we will have a visual calendar for you – of weekly theme days – and of soon-to-be implemented crafts and projects) the theme days of the week are:

In fact I have them all in a notepad file, but as today is Wellness Wednesday, I think it’s time for yours truly to head off to her local diner and have a turkey burger. (And if you want to know one more thing that makes me happy – I am bringing along a ziploc baggy with jalapenos and “hot” sliced pickles that my grandma back in Texas grew! And I will ask for crushed red pepper to go along with it all. yeehaw;)
